Citytrip naar het centrum van Amiens

Citytrip to the city centre of Amiens

Na het ontbijt in het hotel ging ik met mijn auto naar het centrum van Amiens, ongeveer 5 km van het hotel vandaan. Had van tevoren de goedkoopste parkeerplaats uitgezocht via mijn smartphone. Je moet zeker vroeg bij zijn. Het parkeerplaats in de openlucht lag bij de rivier de Somme in de loopafstand van het centrum. Hele dag parkeren kostte me 17 €. Nadat ik mijn auto geparkeerd had, liep ik richting het centrum in via de kleine straatjes. Kwam lange rijen oude huizen tegen die me opviel dat ze kleurrijk waren en houten voorgevel hadden. Ze nodigden me uit om mooie foto's te schieten.

After the breakfast in the hotel, I was going to the city centre of Amiens with my car, approx 5 km away from the hotel. Before I was going, I have sought for the cheapiest parking on my smartphone. You must surely early there. This parking open air was near the river Somme, short walk to the city centre. Whole day parking costs 17 €. After I parked my car, I walked to the city centre by the little streets. Saw long row old houses that my stands out that they are colorful and they have wooden fronts. They invited me to shoot beautiful photos.

Achter die huizen liep een mooi en schilderachtig gracht die langs het oud vestingsmuur liep. De kathedraal net als het centrum lag op de hogere plateau. Die waren verbonden met een paar bruggetjes met treden over het gracht. Liep door het park waar de kathedraal stond. Wat me opviel dat er overal rode bloemen "bloeiden". Maar als je wat dichterbij een kijkje nam zag je dat die rode bloemen gemaakt uit de gereceyleerde bovenkant van de PET-flessen zijn.

Behind that houses flows a little and paintful canal along the old city wall. The cathedral and the city centre laid on the higher plateau. They are connected with some little bridges with stairs on the canal. Walked by the park who the cathedral stands. What me stands out that are many red flowers "flourished". But when you look something nearby, you saw that these red flowers are made out receyled top of PET-bottles.

Voordat ik naar de kathedraal liep liepen er twee die vreemd uitzagen. Het leken wel ouderwetse monniken uit de Middeleeuwen die alleen haar rondom het hoofd hadden en dat de bovenkant kaal waren. Ik volgde hun stiekem op een afstandje. Toen ik wat dichterbij kwamen waren er borden die stond dat er in de kathedraal opnamen bezig waren voor een film. Aha, dat was de clou. Je mocht wel binnenkomen maar dan moest je je zeker muistil als een kerkrat bewegen. Binnen in de kathedraal was het erg mooi, zie foto's. Aan de kant waren er inderdaad filmopnamen aan de gang. Overal felle lichten en reflecterende wanden. Je kon amper de acteurs zien bewegen. 

Before I approched the cathedral, two strange looked men. They are looked as monks from the medivial age. They weared hair round on their heads but the top of their heads are bald. I followed them on little distance secretely. Then I saw some billboards what stands in that inside that cathedral made recordings for a movie. Aha, that's the clou. You was allowed to enter inside the cathedral but you must move very quiet as a mouse. Inside the cathedral was very impressive, see the photos. At the side are movie recordings indeed. Overall intense lights and reflected walls. You can see the actors moving hardly.

Na het bezoek in de kathedraal liep ik verder richting Place Gambetta. Boven de winkelstraat hingen er lampekappen aan de touwen, die als kunst moest voorstellen. Toen ik bij de Place Gambetta aankwam hingen er paraplu's aan de touwen. Het plein zelf was omgetoverd tot soort strand die hellend afliep naar de vijver compleet bezaaid met heuse strandstoelen. Hoewel het weer bewolkt was zaten de mensen ontspannen op die stoelen genietend van hun lunchpauze. Voor mij werd het ook tijd om te lunchen en bestelde bij de sandwichbar kop koffie en een gezonde sandwich met kip en salade. Die smaakte erg lekker.

After visiting the cathedral, I walking further direction to Place Gambetta. Above the shopping street the lampshades are hanged on wires that images as an art. When I arrive at Place Gambetta the umbrellas are also hanged on wires above that place. The place itself transformated as a beach which steeps down to the pond, littered with real beach chairs. However the weather is cloudy, people sat relaxed of their lunch break. It's for me time too to lunch and I order coffee and healty sandwich with chicken and salad at the sandwich bar. It tastes very yummy.

Bezoek bij Jules Verne zijn laatste woning.

Visiting the last home of Jules Verne.

Na van de lunch genoten te hebben wilde ik graag het huis van Jules Verne bezoeken waar hij laatst geleefd had. Wie kent Jules Verne niet? Denk aan de boeken en films over o.a. 20.000 mijlen onder de zee, reis om de wereld in 80 dagen, reis naar het midden van de aarde, reis naar de maan, etc. Dit alles door hem zelf bedacht in de 19e eeuw voordat er dingen uitgevonden waren die nu zo gewoon zijn. In het huis aangekomen kreeg ik een Ipad met film van de gebarentolk mee. Helaas kon ik niet alle gebaren volgen want het was in het Franse variant. Het interieur was bewaard en verder lagen er veel boeken, tekeningen, manuscripten en objecten. Interessant om te zien!

After enjoyed of the lunch, I liked want to visit the home of Jules Verne where he lived last. Who don't know Jules Verne? Think about the books and movies e.g. 20,000 miles under the sea, voyage around the world in 80 days, voyage to the middle of the earth and voyage to the moon.This all is created by himself in the 19th century before some things are invented which today are very normal. At in the home I was given an I-pad with a movie with sign translator for guiding that museum. Unfortunaly I didn't unterstood some signs because it's in the French variant. The interior was kept original and further are many books, drawings, manuscripts and objects exposed. Very interesing to see it!

Naar de andere kant van het centrum.

To the other side of the city centre.

Na het bezoek bij de huis van Jules Verne wandelde ik naar de andere kant van het centrum via de winkelstraten. Liep ik langs het hoofdpostkantoor binnen en vroeg natuurlijk om filatelieloketstempel. Ik had het wel in correct Frans gevraagd of ik zo'n stempel kon krijgen maar de jonge loketist begreep het niet wat ik er mee bedoel, kennelijk heeft hij nog nooit van de filatelie gehoord. Maar gelukkig kwam een oudere loketiste langs en begreep het wat ik bedoelde. De correcte woorden zijn cachet philatélique, niet oblération de point philatélique, mocht je als liefhebber wil vragen.

After visiting home of Jules Verne I walked to the other side of city centre by shopping streets. I came along the postoffice and I asked for pictorial postmark of philatelic counter. I said in correct French if I can get such postmark but the young postmaster doesn't unterstood what I mean, it seems that he didn't know what philately is. Lucky for me, an older lady postmaster came along, she unterstood what I mean. The correct words are cachet philatélique, not obération de point philatélique when you as stamplover to ask about it.

Ging aan de terras bij de rivier de Somme zitten bij het uitgaansdistrict met gezellige cafés. Dronk heerlijk amberbier. Na te ontspannen gezeten te hebben ging ik weer lekker wandelen aan de andere kant van de rivier. Daar waren er meer grachten te vinden met nog oudere gekleurde huizen met typische houten voorkant. Verder waren er natuurlijk merkwaardige bouwels te zien zoals een autogarage dwars op de gracht. Heb paar locals ontmoet en een praatje gemaakt in het Frans zoals een oude bewoonster, die marionetten maakte (poppen met touwen zoals bij Pinokinno). Verder was er een fotoshoot met een bloedmooie model.

Going to the terrace at the river Somme at the entertainment district with cozy bars. Drank yummy amber beer. After sitting relax, I going to walk in the other side of the river. There were more little canals with older colored houses with typical wooden fronts. Fruther are surely strange buildings to see such a car garage on the canal. I have meet some locals and I talked in French language. An older lady resident who making marionnets (puppets on wires like as Pinokinno) and bloody awesome photo model who posing at the fronts of the such houses.

Langs de rivier de Somme stond er een rij restaurants, sommigen serveren typische streekgerechten uit de picardië en de anderen vis- of mosselgerechten. Ik koos natuurlijk een restaurant die streekgerechten serveert, nl. beroemde la ficelle picarde, gevuld pannenkoek met vleesvulling overgegoten met kaas. Ging buiten zitten aan de kade maar helaas zoemen er wespen rond die op zoek waren naar de zoete lekkernijen. Iemand had een idee: oud PET-fles met restje cola diende als een val voor de wespen zo werd de overlast wat minder. Kon ongestoord genieten van de heerlijke ficelle picarde.

Along the river Somme stand a row restaurants. Some restaurants are serving local menu and the others only serving seafood. Naturally I have chosen a restaurant which serving local menu, called famous la ficelle picarde, wrapped pancake with meat filling poured over with smelt cheese. I sat at the bank of the river, but there are wasps zooming around on search for sweet delicacies. Someone has an idea: old PET bottle with some coca-cola served as trap for these wasps so the nuisance a bit lower. Then I can enjoy undisturbed of the over yummy ficelle picarde.

Na het heerlijk diner ging ik weer naar hetzelfde café aan de overkant. Bestelde weer amberbier en genoot van de zonsondergang. 

After the yummy dinner I was going to the same bar again at the other side of the river. Order an amber beer again and enjoyed of the sunset.

Weer naar de kathedraal.

Volgens de folder van de plaatselijke VVV van Amiens zou er elke 's-avonds een gratis lichtshowspektakel Chroma met 3D-effecten gehouden worden wanneer het buiten echt donker was, in dit geval om 22.00 uur. Met vol verwachting liep ik naar de kathedraal. Bij het plein voor de kathedraal was het redelijk druk maar kon bovenaan op de trappen staan voor vrije zicht. Het lichtshowspektakel begon geleidelijk zachtjes gecombineerd met muziek, hoorde en voelde er beetje iets ervan. Het werd prachtig en langzaam opgebouwd tot de kleurrijke climax. Je voelde je wat high alsof je een wiet had gerookt. 

According to of the flyer of the local tourism office of Amiens seems that at each evening a free light show spectacle with 3D effects held when it's real dark outside, in this fall at 10 PM. At the place before the cathedral was it's little bit busy but no problem for me because I stood on the top stair with free view. The light show spectacle began gradually soft combined with music. I heard and feel little bit some music. It's built magnificent and slowly up to the colorful climax. You feel high like as when you smoked a weed.

Toen de lichtshow afgelopen was verscheen er uit 3 grote spots kleurrijke lichten op de beelden in kleuren alsof ze tot in leven kwamen dit alles in 3D! Het publiek mocht naar voren komen om wat dichterbij te zien en voelen of het echt was. Maakte een mooie selfie alsof ik me gezegend voelde met heiligen boven en naast me stonden.

When the light show been is over, from 3 great spots appeared colorful lights on the statutes at the entrances of the cathedral in color like as becoming alive, that's all in 3D! The audience are allowed to nearer to the lighted front of this cathedral to view and feel it if it's real. Made an amazing selfie like as I'm feel blessed with saints above and next to me.

Wat een mooie en zonnige dag was het geweest. De citytrip naar het centrum van Amiens was meer dan waard. Het is gelukkig niet overgespoeld door de massatoerisme. Alleen het was wel jammer dat de meeste toeristen zich maar tot enkele toeristische bezienswaardigheden beperken zoals de kathedraal terwijl er zoveel moois te zien als je buiten de gebaande paden lekker wilt wandelen.

What a beautiful and sunny day was been. The citytrip to the city centre of Amiens was more than worth. Lucky it's not over crowed with masstourism. But it's unfortunaly that most of tourists limit themselves to few tourists hotspots such as the cathedral while there are so many beautiful to see when you think out the box to explorer freely.
