Het verkennen van de omgeving van Sárvár

Exploring of the surroundings of Sárvár

Ik had het voorgenomen om deze dag gewoon relaxed door te brengen. Voordat ik ging ontbijten maakte ik een korte wandeling in het centrum van Sárvár. Sárvár zag er als een doorsnee Hongaarse stad uit, met historisch centrum en lelijke flats aan de buitenwijken. Buiten het centrum zijn er diverse kuuroorden. Winkels waren al vroeg open en kinderen zijn ook vroeg naar school gegaan. Mij viel het op dat er speciale tabakwinkels zijn die eruit zagen als sex shop, alles was echt afgeschermd voor de nieuwsgierige kinderblikken. Daarin wordt er tabak en sterke drank verkocht die nergens verkocht mogen worden. Na de heerlijke ontbijtbuffet ging ik lekker douchen. 

I had planned to spend this day just relaxed. Before I had breakfast I took a short walk in the center of Sárvár. Sárvár looked like an average Hungarian city, with historic center and ugly flats on the outskirts. Outside the center there are several spas. Shops were open early and children also went to school early. I noticed that there are special tobacco shops that looked like sex shop, everything was really shielded from the curious children's eyes. It sells tobacco and spirits that may not be sold anywhere. After the delicious breakfast buffet I took a nice shower.

De eerste etappe gaat naar Sopron, mooie prachtige stad aan de Oostenrijkse grens. Het was lekker rijden over de gloednieuwe snelweg die pas geopend was. Mijn navigatiescherm toonde de weg niet, het was alsof ik door de velden reed. Parkeerde in het centrum van Sopron en ging te voet verder. Het stadscentrum zag er prachtig uit en is omringd door de oude stadsmuur. 

The first stage goes to Sopron, beautiful beautiful city on the Austrian border. It was nice driving on the brand new freeway that had just opened. My navigation screen didn't show the road, it was like driving through the fields. Parked in the center of Sopron and continued on foot. The city center looked beautiful and is surrounded by the old city wall.

Ik naderde de hoge stadstoren midden in het centrum van Sopron. Daar was een historisch museum gevestigd over de geschiedenis van Sopron die terugging tot het Romeins tijdperk. Het was gratis voor mij als dove om te bezichtigen. Naar boven klimmen was best lastig maar werd beloond met mooie uitzicht.

I approached the high city tower right in the center of Sopron. There was a historical museum about the history of Sopron dating back to the Roman era. It was free for me as a deaf person to view. Climbing up was quite difficult but was rewarded with a nice view.

Niet ver van de stadstoren was er een prachtige barokskerk en apotheekmuseum. 

Not far from the city tower there was a beautiful baroque church and pharmacy museum.

Toen had ik best zin in typisch Hongaars lunch. Bestelde bij de kelderrestaurant goulashsoep en pittige koolsalade met brood. Wow, wat was het pittig. Gelukkig vergezeld met Soproni bier. Goed gevuld maakte ik een rondwandeling langs de oude stadsmuur. 

Then I was quite in the mood for typical Hungarian lunch. Ordered goulash soup and spicy coleslaw with bread at the cellar restaurant. Wow, it was so spicy. Fortunately accompanied with Soproni beer. Well stocked I made a walk along the old city wall.

Na de rondwandeling ging ik verder met volgende etappe richting Szombathely, ook vlakbij de Oostenrijkse grens. Szombathely is iets groter met veel winkels. Parkeerde in het centrum en ging rondkijken in het centrum. Bij de toeritisch informatieburo kreeg ik een stempel. Ik zag dat er diverse grote banken zijn, ik dacht waarom niet mijn collectie Hongaarse bankbiljetten compleet maken, aangezien dat de hoogste waarde van 20.000 florint door de inflatie amper € 40 waard is. Ik kreeg hulp van de bankbediende hoe ik juiste bankbiljetten kon opnemen. 

After the circular walk I continued with the next stage towards Szombathely, also near the Austrian border. Szombathely is slightly larger with many shops. Parked in the center and went to look around the center. At the tourist information agency I got a stamp. I saw that there are several large banks, I thought why not complete my collection of Hungarian banknotes, since that the highest value of 20,000 florint is barely worth € 40 due to inflation. I got help from the bank clerk on how to withdraw correct banknotes.

Deze bankbiljetten waren interessant doordat die coole kleurige kenmerken hadden die bij de UV-licht te voorschijn kwamen. Verder was er niet veel te zien in Szombathely, dus ik ging door naar Kószeg, een kleinere plaats met historisch verleden. Het centrum van Kószeg was klein maar erg gezellig. Het weer was erg warm vandaag. Ging lekker zitten in de terras en bestelde typisch hongaars koffie en gebak. Vlakbij stond de kleine stadstoren. Na de koffie ging ik voorbij die toren. Daar achter was er een plein met mooie beschilderde oude gebouwen.

These banknotes were interesting because they had cool colorful features that came out with the UV light. Furthermore, there was not much to see in Szombathely, so I continued to Kószeg, a smaller place with a historical past. The center of Kószeg was small but very cozy. The weather was very warm today. Sat down in the terrace and ordered typical Hungarian coffee and pastries. Nearby was the small city tower. After coffee, I went past that tower. Behind it there was a square with beautiful painted old buildings.

 

Verder was er niet zo veel te zien. Ging naar de toeritisch informatieburo. Er hing een plank met stempel voor de ingang zoals het in Japan gebruikelijk is. Helaas is het een echte uitzondering. Verder kent Hongaars postwezen geen filatelieloketstempel en er wordt zelden bijzondere stempels gebruikt. De filatelische dienst in Boedapest gebruikt speciale datumstempel Filaposta.

Other than that, there wasn't much to see. Went to de toeritisch informatieburo. There was a board with stamp in front of the entrance as it is customary in Japan. Unfortunately, it is a real exception. Furthermore, Hungarian postal services do not have a philately counter postmark and special postmarks are rarely used. The philatelic service in Budapest uses special date postmark Filaposta.

Terug naar het hotel in Sárvár. Door de warme weer had ik zin om siësta te houden. Toen werd 's-avonds wat koeler werd maakte ik een lange wandeling naar de oever van de rivier. Daarin was er een visrestaurant gevestigd. Het was niet zo druk bezocht en bestelde geen vismenu aangezien die vooral uit zoetwatervissen bestond. In Oekranië had ik ooit zoetwatervis gegeten maar die had veel graten en weinig vlees, dus geen behoefte meer. Maar koos echte Hongaars vleesgerecht. Daarna warme dessert die uit de oven kwam. Het bereiden had wel lang geduurd en smaakte echt heerlijk. Voldaan liep ik terug naar het hotel om laatste bier Soproni op te drinken voordat ik naar bed ging. 

Back to the hotel in Sárvár. Because of the warm weather I felt like having a siesta. When it got a bit cooler in the evening I took a long walk to the bank of the river. In it there was a fish restaurant located. It was not so crowded and did not order a fish menu as it consisted mainly of freshwater fish. In Ukraine I had once eaten freshwater fish but it had a lot of bones and little meat, so no need anymore. But chose real Hungarian meat dish. Then hot dessert that came out of the oven. The preparation had taken a long time and tasted really delicious. Satisfied, I walked back to the hotel to drink last beer Soproni before going to bed.
