Vanuit Charleroi naar huis

From Charleroi to home

Nadat ik goed uitgeslapen had, wilde ik ontbijten en het centrum van Charleroi verkennen voordat ik met de trein naar huis ging. Ik ontbeet niet in het hotel, want het was zo standaard omdat het hotel tot zelfde hotelketen behoorde waar ik vroeger in andere hotels overnachtte. Ik ging lekker erop uit. Het stationsgedeelte was erg mooi gerenoveerd. Achter het hotel was het in feite een facade met vervallen gebouwen wisselend met moderne gebouwen, maar wel interessant met muurschilderijen. Dus ik maakte foto's. Overal hingen er plakkaten dat de meisjes met rust gelaten moet worden. Liep verder het centrum in en vond een leuk tentje waar ik kon ontbijten. Heerlijk echte ontbijt met brood en spiegeleieren.

After I slept well, I wanted to have breakfast and explore the center of Charleroi before I went home by train. I didn't have breakfast at the hotel, because it was so standard because the hotel belonged to the same hotel chain that I used to spend the night in other hotels. I went out and about. The station section was very nicely renovated. Behind the hotel it was in fact a facade with dilapidated buildings alternating with modern buildings, but interesting with wall paintings. So I took pictures. Everywhere there were placards that the girls should be left alone. Walked further into the center and found a nice place where I could have breakfast. Delicious real breakfast with bread and fried eggs.

Terug naar het station

Na het ontbijt ging ik eerst naar het hotel om me uit te schrijven en mijn koffer op te halen. Aangekomen in het station ging ik direct naar het perron omdat ik de treinticket reeds online besteld en betaald had en in het hotel laten uitprinten. Ik nam de sneltrein richting Liège-Gullemis. Toen ik in de trein zat die grotendeels langs de Maas reed, waren er maar liefst 3 conducteurs aanwezig. Dus 3 stempels op mijn kaart voor deze rit die maar anderhalf uur duurde. Aangekomen in Liège-Gullemis moest ik overstappen naar de andere perron in een hypermodern station. De trein uit Hasselt richting Maastricht had liefst 30 minuten vertraging! 

After breakfast I first went to the hotel to deregister and pick up my suitcase. Arrived at the station I went directly to the platform because I had already ordered and paid for the train ticket online and had it printed at the hotel. I took the express train in the direction of Liège-Gullemis. When I was on the train that was mostly along the Maas, there were no fewer than 3 conductors present. So 3 stamps on my card for this ride that lasted only an hour and a half. When I arrived in Liège-Gullemis I had to transfer to the other platform in a state-of-the-art station. The train from Hasselt to Maastricht had a 30-minute delay!

Richting Maastricht

De trein bleef dan ook bijna 30 minuten staan. Dan vertrok die eindelijk richting Maastricht. Helaas kwam de trein niet verder dan Visé, die gaf de geest. Ik baalde me harstikke ervan. Weer 1 uur wachten op de volgende trein. In de tussentijd had ik honger van gekregen. Zocht in Visé naar een goeie tent zoals de friture of kebab. Vond de kebabtent. Je had keuze tussen 10 soorten saus. Het smaakte inderdaad veel beter dan in Holland. Nadat ik gegeten had ging ik terug naar het stationnetje van Visé om de volgende trein naar Maastricht te nemen. 

The train stopped almost 30 minutes. Then he finally left for Maastricht. Unfortunately, the train did not get any further than Visé, who gave up the ghost. I was very disappointed. Wait another 1 hour for the next train. In the meantime, I got hungry. Looked in Visé for a good tent such as the friture or kebab. Found the kebab tent. You had a choice between 10 types of sauce. It indeed tasted much better than in Holland. After I had eaten I went back to the station of Visé to take the next train to Maastricht.

Aangekomen in Maastricht moest ik overstappen richting thuis. Weer moest ik bijna half uur wachten. Ik had het gevoel dat ik in een film speelde Planes, trains & automobiles met de hoofdrollen van de komieken John Candy en Steve Martin. Ik was nog nooit zo blij dat ik eindelijk thuis kwam na zo'n oydssee. Het was een van mijn echte spannende vakanties die ik mee maakte. 

When I arrived in Maastricht I had to transfer home. Again I had to wait almost half an hour. I felt like I was playing Planes, trains &automobiles in a movie with the leading roles of comedians John Candy and Steve Martin. I was never so happy that I finally came home after such an oydssee. It was one of my really exciting vacations that I experienced.
