Travel abroad more often within 1 day by car

Nadat sommige restricties in de buurlanden opgeheven werden maakte ik dagtrips naar België en Luxemburg. Zelf wilde ik niet met het openbaar te reizen, daar mondmasker dragen verplicht is, dus liever lekker comfortabel rijden met mijn SUV. 

After some restrictions in the neighboring countries were lifted, I made day trips to Belgium and Luxembourg. I myself did not want to travel by public, since wearing a face mask is mandatory, so I prefer to drive comfortably with my SUV.

Bolrijk

Bolrijk is een van de grootste openluchtmuseum van Europa. Ik kom er graag regelmatig langs en het was ook in de buurt. Niet overal was toegangelijk vanwege de maatregelen. Daar was een wandelroute uitgezet volgens de sfeer van Pieter Bruegel, beroemd om zijn 16e eeuwse schilderijen en tekeningen, langs de gebouwen die uit hetzelfde tijdperk stamden.

Bolrijk is one of the largest open-air museums in Europe. I like to visit it regularly and it was also nearby. Not everywhere was accessible because of the measures. There was a walking route according to the atmosphere of Pieter Bruegel, famous for his 16th century paintings and drawings, along the buildings that date from the same era.

Tongeren

Tongeren heeft een rijk historie die vanaf het Romeins tijdperk stamt, er was veel te zien in een paar verschillende musea die men echt moet bezoeken. Het centrum is zeer de moeite waard wanneer er zondags een antieke markt gehouden wordt.

Tongeren has a rich history that dates back to the Roman era, there was a lot to see in a few different museums that one really has to visit. The center is very worthwhile when an antique market is held on Sundays.

 Dinant

Dinant is van oudsher een echte toeristenplaats bij uitstek met rijke en interessante momumenten alles in 1 plek bij de diepe Maasvallei. Men kan bijna alles bezichtigen in 1 dag. Het is ook de geboorteplaats van de uitvinder Sax van de saxofoon.

Dinant is traditionally a real tourist place par excellence with rich and interesting momuments all in 1 place near the deep Meuse valley. You can see almost everything in 1 day. It is also the birthplace of the inventor Sax of the saxophone.

Verder was ik in Antwerpen, Mechelen, Leuven, Namen, Louvain-de-la-Neuve (Kuifje museum) en Oostende geweest.

I had also been to Antwerp, Mechelen, Leuven, Namur, Louvain-de-la-Neuve (Tintin Museum) and Ostend.

Luxemburg

Ik ben vroeger vaak in Luxemburg geweest, dit keer op filatelisch toer. Eerst naar Luxemburg-Stad. Bij de toeristisch bureau kreeg ik een joekel van een stempel. Ik ging ook naar het Luxemburgs filatelisch postkantoor om interessante stempels te bemachtigen. Helaas hebben ze geen speciale stempels, alleen van de eerste dag van uitgifte of bijzondere stempels.

I used to be in Luxembourg a lot, this time on a philatelic tour. First to Luxembourg City. At the tourist office I got a jerk of a stamp. I also went to the Luxembourg philatelic post office to get interesting stamps. Unfortunately, they do not have any special stamps, only from the first day of issue or special stamps.

Daarna ging ik naar Wiltz, mooi pittoresk plaats met interessante musea in het kasteel, vooral de biermuseum. Alle grote Luxemburgse biermerken waren goed vertegenwoordigd. Mocht een fles bier proeven die bij de entree inbegrepen was. Na afloop ging ik naar het postkantoor om mijn kaarten te posten. Vroeg aan de baliemedewerkster in het Frans of zij toevallig oude filatelieloketstempel had. Zij herinnerde zich dat die ooit gebruikt was en ging naar achteren. Die filatelieloketstempel werd tevoorschijn gehaald. Wat een geluk! Normaal wordt de post niet zo afgestempeld.

Then I went to Wiltz, nice picturesque place with interesting museums in the castle, especially the beer museum. All major Luxembourg beer brands were well represented. Was allowed to taste a bottle of beer that was included in the entrance fee. Afterwards, I went to the post office to post my cards. Asked the clerk in French if she happened to have an old philately counter stamp. She remembered that it had once been used and went to the back. That philately counter stamp was pulled out. How lucky! Normally, the post is not stamped as much.

Nadat ik compleet gevaccineerd ben verlengde ik mijn horizon, dus richting Frankrijk. Ik ben 4 keer daar geweest. Binnenkort ga ik voor de 5e keer er naar toe, dit alles binnen 1 jaar. Zie volgend artikel Terugblik begin covid-19 periode (3)

After I was fully vaccinated, I extended my horizons, so towards France. I've been there 4 times. Soon I will go there for the 5th time, all this within 1 year. See next article Review of the beginning of the covid-19 period (3)
